CONCEPT:
The Teva Mountain Games continue to set the standard and push the
envelope in the outdoor industry. For the 2012 Mountain Click
photography competition, photographers will have four days to take
photos during the Teva Mountain Games. At the conclusion of
these four days, photographers will submit their top photo for each
category to the judging panel made up of professional sport and
outdoor photographers. A maximum of three photos may be submitted,
one in each of the following categories: Performance, Vibe and
Mountain Magic. The top three winners in each category will share
the prize purse of almost $4,000. At the end of judging, a Clik
Elite Immortal will be chosen as the best overall photographer in
the contest.
HOW TO ENTER:
All interested persons can pre-register on the Teva Mountain Games
website at www.tevamountaingames.com.
Registration will also be available at Main
Registration. Organizers will not be responsible for
incomplete, lost, or misdirected registrations or for registrations
not received for any reason, including, without limitation, failure
or malfunction of any communications network or equipment or
computer software or hardware.
This is an individual competition, and all photographers must
check in at registration during the competition to sign their
liability release and receive their photo comp credential.
RULES
EQUIPMENT:
Photographers will be responsible for providing all equipment
needed to compete.
COMPETITION:
1) Competition will begin at 9am (mst), Thursday, and end at 5pm
(mst), Sunday. Any photos taken before or after these times
will not be eligible and the photographers work will be
disqualified.
2) This is a unique event where there is not an official "start
line" but we know competitors will begin shooting at 9am on
Thursday. For this reason and not to limit competitors, ALL
photographers, even those pre-registered, must check-in at a Main
Registration at some time during the competition prior to 10am,
Sunday. This is to sign their liability waiver and receive
their photo comp credential. There will be no onsite registration
for Mountain Click competitors at the individual competitions.
3) Upon completion of the Teva Mountain Games, photographers
will email their best image (one) for each category in which they
wish to compete, for a maximum of three images total. Images
must be received in the Mountain Click inbox no later than 5pm
(mst) on Monday, June 11, 2012. Email: mountainclick@gmail.com.
Photos must be saved by CATEGORY'S CODE, FIRST INITIAL and LAST
NAME. Category Codes: Performance-P; Vibe-V; Mountain Magic-MM.
(Example for Zach Thompson's submittals: PZThompson, VZThompson,
MMZThompson.) Competitors not wishing to submit one image in each
category may submit multiple images in any category with a
maximum of three images total for the contest. If
photographers feel one image falls into multiple categories, they
may submit the same image in multiple categories by properly
labeling the photo files as indicated above. A completed
judging sheet listing competitors' final rank will be made
available on www.tevamountaingames.com at the
conclusion of the Mountain Click competition.
4) Photographers work will be judged by a jury of sport and
photography professionals. (Learn more about the judges at www.tevamountaingames.com)
The following three categories will comprise the competition:
Performance - the sports and action images that
define TMG-Action.
Vibe - Details, humor and the personality of
TMG-Mood.
Mountain Magic - The home of the digitally altered
which comprise moments captured during TMG and blended to create
the art of the event-Visual Impact.
Clik Elite Immortal - This sponsorship package
will be awarded to the photographer demonstrating exceptional skill
and is based solely on the judges' opinion. The Elite Immortal's
photos may or may not be among the top three winners in the other
categories. There is no prize money awarded to the Elite
Immortal.
All entries submitted to mountainclick@gmail.com
will be posted on the TMG Flickr account. In an effort to encourage
that the images are of the highest integrity, no digital
manipulation - other than standard digital processing, color
adjustment, exposure and dust removal - will be allowed, (basic
"cleaning up.") Black & White and Sepia Tone images are allowed
in the Performance and Vibe categories.
In our third category, Mountain Magic-anything goes. We encourage
you to layer images, replace skies and create amazing interpretive
digital art that represents your ideal moment in the Games and that
will have strong visual impact. It is the sole discretion of the
Mountain Click judging panel to disqualify images from the first
two categories that show evidence of digital manipulation other
than what is stated above.
5) Photos should be taken with a digital camera. Recommended
minimum image size for competition is 10" or 3,000 pixels (on the
longest side) sRGB Jpeg at 300ppi (pixels per inch).
6) Photographers will not be given special treatment or
access to restricted areas throughout the venues. In order to
submit photos for judging, photographers must register, pick up
their registration packet, sign liability and receive their photo
competition credential. Mountain Click competitors may enter
certain shooting areas, but any competitor may be denied access at
any time, for any reason by a TMG staff member or security
personnel. Per TMG's permit usage agreement with the US Forest
Service, competitors wishing to photograph the Steep Creek
Championship will NOT be allowed special river bank access.
7) Any image not correctly prepared or suffering from image
degradation due to over-compensation or over saturation will be
rejected - be careful.
8) Copyright of photography entered in the competition will
remain the property of the photographer. Photographers will release
the rights of images entered in the competition to Teva Mountain
