How much vert is too much when only half your foot is attached? Known for having open-minds, telemark freeskiers take to the big air jump at the base of Vail Mountain for a huckfest like no other.

FREE HEELS & WHEELS:
This competition will take place alongside the Teva Best Trick Bike.

Sharing airspace under the lights on a huge snow feature on Vail Mountain, professional athletes from the worlds of telemark skiing and big air mountain biking compete side-by-side in a dueling trick session like never before.

All comps at the Games have limited capacity and will fill up quickly. Please register early so you're not left out!

DOCUMENTATION:

RACE CATEGORIES:  
Telemark Big Air event is open to Men and Women 13 years of age and above.

30 competitors (10 invited & 20 open to the public through registration)

5 from a qualifying round will advance to the finals + the 10 invited pros (15 total in the finals)

The qualifying round will be a session (chairlift up) judged on style, difficulty, etc. of the trick

Men and Women will run together and the prize money will go 3 deep ($2,500, $1,500, $1,000)

Finals will be shuttled up with a snowmobile

PRIZES:

1st: $2,500
2nd: $1,500
3rd: $1,000

NOTES:

**PLEASE NOTE: Mandatory Athlete Meeting: 9:30am February 11 - Bottom of Chair 6**

All athletes, even those pre-registering on-line must sign liability and release waivers when checking in to receive their number.  We advise all athletes check in for their event the day prior to competing or at least two (2) hours prior to the start of their competition. 

All athletes must be present at check in to receive their number.  Numbers will NOT be given to friends, coaches or family members.

RACE RULES

EQUIPEMENT:
Telemark Boot, Telemark Binding & Alpine or Telemark Ski required

No, Alpine Boots or Alpine Bindings or AT equipment

Bibs need to worn over chest at all times or athlete will be subject to disqualification


COMPETITION:
Competition will begin at top of jump run-off and end at the bottom of landing in corral. Random jump order.

Two judges. One judge will judge general impression and the Second will judge on technique and difficulty.  Both judges will judges both the qualifier and the Invitational.

Day of Qualifier will be run in a jam format and open to 20 total, non-invited athletes. Five athletes will advance to the finals for a total of 15 total athletes. Finals will run in a Jam Format.

No tripping, shoving or horseplay will be tolerated and any athlete participating in foul play will be pulled from the course and disqualified. Beware of other skiers on the hill. If you fall or loose equipment, please remove yourself and your belongings from under the jump as quickly as possible. Communicate with on-coarse safety volunteer.

DIRECTIONS TO START LINE:
The Competition will be held at Golden Peak in Vail, CO. For the qualifying round please use the Riva Bahn Chair 6 to access the start. The jump will be located at the bottom of Golden Peak. Please use the gate below the Terrain Park to access. If you do not have a lift access, the jump is with in walking distance from the base of Golden Peak.

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY: 
The competition is open to all interested athletes regardless of state and/or country of residency.  Competitors who are under the age of 18 must register with a parent or legal guardian. Competitors must be able to attend all scheduled events.  Athletes will be required to provide all their own equipment.  Further, athletes must abide by all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations during their participation in the Winter Teva Mountain Games®.

PARTICIPATION:
Athletes agree to be bound by these Official Rules and all decisions of Organizers. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any persons found tampering with, or otherwise abusing, any aspect of the competition as solely determined by Organizers.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION: 
Organizers will appoint judges and the decision of those judges will be final.  There will be no review of scoring / timing even with the presence of TV cameras.  Disputes with Organizers and/or appointed judges will result in disqualification of that athlete.

RESERVATION OF RIGHTS:
Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any athlete for any reason, including, without limitation, acting in an unsafe, unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and/or with intent to intimidate, threaten or harass, or harm another person.  All decisions with respect to the disqualification of an athlete shall be made by Organizers and/or appointed judges.  Failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in an athlete's disqualification and the forfeiture of his/her interest in any prize. Organizers reserve the right to amend these Official Rules at any time in its sole discretion, and athletes shall have no recourse for any such changes or for any failure (whether inadvertent or otherwise) by Organizers to follow the stated rules.  In the event that the competition is canceled prior to the completion of the final event, no prizes will be awarded.  Any refunds are at the organizer's discretion.   Athletes will not be otherwise compensated for any costs or expenses associated with their participation in the competition.

ORGANIZERS:
The Winter Teva Mountain Games® will be organized and produced by staff and contractors hired from and by the Vail Valley Foundation.  The decisions of Organizers regarding the selection and elimination of athletes, the selection of finalists and winners, and the production and administration of Winter Teva Mountain Games® related events, and all other aspects of the event, shall be final and binding in all respects. Organizers will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the event.
