PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOTOUT RULES AND REGULATIONS Date: June 5th – 8th, 2008 Location: Throughout the Teva Mountain Games CONCEPT: The Teva Mountain Games continue to set the standard and push the envelope in the outdoor industry. The 2008 photography competition has evolved to take on a new look and name – “Mountain Click.” Photographers will have 4 days (June 5 – June 8) to take photos during the Mountain Games to create the ultimate three-shot portfolio. At the conclusion of the event, photographers will submit their top three photos to the Teva Mountain Games web page. These photos will be uploaded on the web site and voted on by a jury for the best three portfolios submitted. The top three portfolios will be awarded cash and published in Outside Magazine. HOW TO ENTER: All interested persons can pre-register on the Teva Mountain Games website @ www.tevamountaingames.com. Registration will also be available in Vail Village until 12:00pm, June 8th. Organizers will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, or misdirected registrations or for registrations not received for any reason, including, without limitation, failure or malfunction of any communications network or equipment or computer software or hardware. This is an individual competition, and all photographers must check in at the registration booth during the competition. REGISTRATION FEE: Pre-register (on-line only) and day of: $50 PRIZES: 1st - $2500 2nd - $1500 3rd - $1000 * Organizers reserve the right to change/alter these prizes without notification. RULES EQUIPMENT: Photographers will be responsible for providing all equipment needed to compete. COMPETITION: 1) Competition will begin at 9:00am(mst), Thursday, June 5 and end at 4:00pm(mst), Sunday, June 8. Any photos taken before or after these times will not be eligible and the photographers work will be disqualified. 2) Competitors may begin shooting at 9:00am on June 5. This is a unique event with no official “start line”. ALL photographers, even those pre-registered, must check-in at a registration booth at some time during the event prior to 12:00pm, Sunday, June 8. This is to inform organizers they are on site. 3) When competitors check-in at registration, they will receive the information needed to upload photos on the Mountain Games web site. Registration booths will be located at Homestake Creek on Thursday, June 5 from 7:00am – 10:00am and in Vail Village at the Mountain Haus starting at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 5. For complete list of times, see the Games full schedule. 4) Photographers will upload their top three (3) photos to the Teva Mountain Games web site by 5:00pm(mst) on Friday, June 13th. Photographers will be given a direct link to the web page and a password for uploading when they check in at the registration booth during the event. The capability to upload photos will open from 12:00pm, Thursday, June 5 to 5:00pm on Friday, June 13th. Any late photos will not be accepted. 5) Photographers work will be judged by a jury on the subject of “Iconic Teva Mountain Games”. The three photos submitted will be judged together and not as individual photos. The person compiling the top “portfolio” will be awarded the winner. Winners will be announced on June 20th, 2008. 6) Photos should be taken with digital cameras only. Recommended minimum image size for competition is 600 pixels (on longest side) sRGB JPEG. 7) Photographer participating in the Shootout will receive a media credential which will allow access to restricted areas. 8) Any image not correctly prepared or suffering image degradation due to over-compression will not be considered for entry. 9) Photos entered into the competition will remain the property of the photographer. At no time will the event organizers use the photos for reproduction or for promotional use other than on the Teva Mountain Games website or in direct promotion of the Mountain Click competition Additional Rules and Information PHOTOGRAPHER ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to all interested photographers regardless of state and/or country of residency. Competitors who are under the age of 18 must register with a parent or legal guardian. Competitors will be required to provide all their own equipment. Furthermore, competitors must abide by all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations during their participation in the Teva Mountain Games®. PARTICIPATION: Competitors agree to be bound by these Official Rules and all decisions of Organizers. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any persons found tampering with, or otherwise abusing, any aspect of the competition as solely determined by Organizers. DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Organizers will appoint judges and the decision of those judges will be final. There will be no review of scoring. Disputes with Organizers and/or appointed judges will result in disqualification. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any competitor for any reason, including, without limitation, acting in an unsafe, unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and/or with intent to intimidate, threaten or harass, or harm another person. All decisions with respect to the disqualification of an competitor shall be made by Organizers and/or appointed judges. Failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in an athlete’s disqualification and the forfeiture of his/her interest in any prize. Organizers reserve the right to amend these Official Rules at any time in its sole discretion, and athletes shall have no recourse for any such changes or for any failure (whether inadvertent or otherwise) by Organizers to follow the stated rules. In the event that the competition is canceled prior to the completion of the final event, no prizes will be awarded. If the Tournament is cancelled prior to June 4, 2008 for any reason, competitors will be reimbursed only for his/her entry fee. Competitors will not be otherwise compensated for any costs or expenses associated with their participation in the competition. ORGANIZERS: The 2008 Teva Mountain Games® Photographers Competition (“Photo Comp”) will be organized and produced by staff from Untraditional Marketing (“Organizers”). The decisions of Organizers regarding the selection and elimination of competitors, the selection of finalists and winners, and the production and administration of related events, and all other aspects of the Photo Comp, shall be final and binding in all respects. Organizers will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Photo Comp.
