IFSC BOULDERING WORLD CUP RULES AND REGULATIONS Qualifiers: Friday June 6th, 2008 Location of all rounds: Golden Peak, Vail, CO. Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm Semi-Finals: Saturday June 7th, 2008 Time: 1:00pm – 3:30pm Finals: Saturday June 7th, 2008 Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm HOW TO ENTER: The World Cup Competition is open to qualified and invited athletes from IFSC Member Federations. All interested climbers must be pre-registered by his/her Member Federation by May 15th, 2008 through the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) website at www.ifsc-climbing.org, and pay associated fees. Additionally, each individual must register him/herself at www.tevamountaingames.com, by May 15th, 2008. This is an individual competition and the fee is $20 per person in addition to fees paid to the IFSC by each Member Federation. Organizers will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, or misdirected registrations or for registrations not received for any reason, including, without limitation, failure or malfunction of any communications network or equipment or computer software or hardware. USA Climbing is organizing the World Cup on behalf of the International Federation of Sport Climbing. IFSC Rules will be used for this competition. Click here for a complete set. The following rules are a summary and should not be used as a substitute for the Official 2008 IFSC Rule Book. Every competitor is responsible for knowing the IFSC Rules and the competition will be run according to the IFSC Rules. FORMAT DESCRIPTION: There are three (3) rounds of competition: Qualifiers, Semi-Finals and Finals. There are four (4) unique boulder problems per gender, per round. The top twenty (20) finishers in each gender from the Qualifier Round will advance to Semi-Finals and the top (6) finishers in each gender from the Semi-Finals Round will advance to the Finals Round. Each round is in an on-sight format where a climber is given a pre-determined amount of climbing time per problem. No climber will have seen the problem until s/he begins her attempt (excepting the Finals Round in which each competitor receives a pre-determined amount of time for observation). The climber may make as many attempts as is possible during the allotted time and climbers are scored by completion of the problem, in addition to potential bonus points. EQUIPMENT: Bouldering walls and landing mats will be provided by the organizer. Each climber is responsible for his/her shoes and chalkbag.
Additional Rules and Information CLIMBER ELIGIBILITY: The World Cup Competition is only open to qualified climbers from IFSC Member Federations. Qualification in each Federation will vary. Competitors who are under the age of 18 must register with a parent or legal guardian. Competitors must be able to attend all scheduled events. Climbers will be required to provide all their own equipment. Further, climbers must abide by all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations during their participation in the Speed Competition. PARTICIPATION: World Cup climbers agree to be bound by these Official Rules (referencing this document and the IFSC Rule Book), and all decisions of Organizers. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any persons found tampering with, or otherwise abusing, any aspect of the World Cup competition as solely determined by Organizers. CONSTRUCTION: The Organizers will complete all construction of the climbing areas based upon town regulations, materials available and weather conditions. Organizers reserve the right to change construction based on unforeseeable events such as weather, safety issues, etc. DISPUTE RESOLUTION: Organizers will appoint scoring judges and the decision of those judges will be final. Disputes with Organizers and/or appointed judges will result in disqualification of that climber. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS: Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any climber for any reason, including, without limitation, acting in an unsafe, unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and/or with intent to intimidate, threaten or harass, or harm another person. All decisions with respect to the disqualification of climbers shall be made by Organizers and/or appointed judges. Failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may result in a climber’s disqualification, and the forfeiture of his/her interest in any prize. Organizers reserve the right to amend these Official Rules at any time in its sole discretion, and climbers shall have no recourse for any such changes or for any failure (whether inadvertent or otherwise) by Organizers to follow the stated rules. In the event that the World Cup Competition is canceled prior to the completion of the event, prizes will be awarded based on scores taken from the previous round, and determined by the Chief Judge. ORGANIZERS: The 2008 World Cup Competition (“World Cup Competition”) will be organized and produced by staff from Untraditional Marketing and USA Climbing (“Organizers”). The decisions of Organizers regarding the selection and elimination of climbers, the selection of finalists and winners, and the production and administration of World Cup Competition related events, and all other aspects of the World Cup Competition, shall be final and binding in all respects. Organizers will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the World Cup Competition.
