Serac Adventure Film School - Valued Teva Mountain Games Partner

Serac Adventure Film School is once again teaming up with Teva, The Teva Mountain Games and the Vail Valley Foundation to help foster the next generation of adventure filmmakers.

Film some of the world’s most extreme athletes at the country’s largest celebration of mountain sport. Student’s are granted exclusive press passes to all events and competitions at the games, including VIP entry to behind the scenes areas. Students receive hands on instruction with a high ratio of instructors to students. Award-winning director Michael Brown will also be on hand helping students create their own Teva Mountain Games films from initial concept to finished DVD/webclip. All final films will be posted on this website and the Outside Magazine website.

Students will utilize the Serac editing headquarters at the luxurious Antlers At Vail equipped with the latest Apple computers and editing software. Everyone also receives a swag bag of gear including a new pair of Tevas.

THE DETAILS

DATE: Wednesday, June 2 – Wednesday, June 9
The seven-day school will start a day before the games begin and end two days after.

Day 1 (Wednesday, June 2): Students Arrive in Vail & Orientation Dinner
Arrive in Denver morning or mid-day (flight arrival to DIA no later than 3pm). Three hour transport from DIA to Vail. Orientation dinner at 7pm with all students, instructors & friends.

Day 2 (Thursday, June 3): First Day of Filming
All students and instructors will visit the first day of the games as a group for introduction to adventure filmmaking. Students will have VIP press access to all events. That night students will learn how to digitize footage onto Apple edit computers.

Day 3 (Friday, June 4): Second Day of Filming
Students and instructors will film at the second day of the games and continue digitizing footage onto edit computers. Students will have VIP press access to all events.

Day 4 (Saturday, June 5): Third Day of Filming
Students and instructors will film at the third day of the games and continue digitizing footage onto edit computers. Students will have VIP press access to all events.

Day 5 (Sunday, June 6): Final Day of Filming
Students and instructors will conclude filming at the final day of the games and begin the editing of their films. Students will learn how to use basic tools of Final Cut Pro editing software and begin the assembly of their films.

Day 6 (Monday, June 7): Editing Session
Second day of editing. Students will learn more advanced functions of Final Cut Pro software and will continue editing their films with help from Serac instructors.

Day 7 (Tuesday, June 8): Editing Session & Student Film Festival
Final day of editing. Students will learn how to put the finishing touches on their films and how to export the final product. An evening screening of all student films will be held with a graduation ceremony concluding the school.

Day 8 (Wednesday, June 9): Student Departure
Serac Adventure Film School concludes and students fly home.

LOCATION: Vail Village

PRICE: $2,250 single student tuition.
This includes all course materials, outdoor instruction, editing workshops, and VIP passes.

Students responsible for their travel to and from Teva Mountain Games, accommodation, food (except for orientation dinner), video camera, & hard drive.

Serac Adventure Films will provide one conference room stocked with Apple computers as editing headquarters, battery charging, screening, logging, and more. Students will also receive a Teva swag-bag of free gear including a new pair of shoes.
